Ellensburg, WA. Fun At Dick and Janes

We've lived in Washington now for just over 8 years. We started RVing here and have always wanted to spend sometime in Ellensburg. The people of Ellensburg take a lot of pride in their little town. The one thing that caught our attention was the Ellensburg Rodeo they have every year, we have read about it in a lot of publications and when we stop for gas and breakfast right off of Interstate 90 there is a large sign that tells visitors about it. But it wasn't the rodeo that we wanted to see, we wanted to see Ellensburg, So we spent the weekend of August 13, 2005 there.

We had seen they have a walking tour of the historic downtown area, but we didn't do that, we walked it, but didn't have the sheet of paper that told you about the different things. What we did was part of our new interest, we tried to GeoCache our way around Ellensburg. Before I tell you about that part of the weekend, I want to tell you about this other place I wanted to see, we went there last. I had found it during a google search for things to see around Washington.

Dick and Janes Spot is a place you really have to see in person to appreciate it fully. My pictures might be a little different from the ones you see at the offical Dick and Janes Spot but not too much. You'll find them at 101 North Pearl St • Ellensburg,WA 98926, it is one block off the main street of town if your close by you should stop and walk around, I am sure kids will enjoy it, they might even want to try it at home.

But before I share my view of the "spot" I want to remind you that there is always so much more to see in areas like these, so always keep your eyes open for the less obvious ones.

This is Dick and Janes Spot as seen from across the street at the firestation.

OH NO!!! She has ANOTHER blog!!!

There are so many things to see as you travel. Most times you know what your going to see, that's the whole purpose of a trip, those are the places that everyone has at least heard of, Disneyland, major zoos, beautiful national parks, the bigger theme parks.

When we travel we prefer to get off the highway and take the older roads. The ones that take you through the small towns that are now bypassed.

When we are first starting to "think" about a trip I get on the internet and start looking for places to see in those small towns that are going to be "on the way" to where we are heading. Sometimes I come across things that turn out to be the reason for our trips. These are the things that I want to put here.
